10 Outstanding Schools Make Strides Towards Global Understanding

We at Academic Year in America (AYA) are excited to announce that we – along with the American Institute For Foreign Study Foundation – have awarded 10 American high schools with 2019 Tony Cook Memorial Grants!

Tony Cook Memorial Grants are administered annually by the AIFS Foundation. The grants are awarded to American high schools that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to cultural exchange by hosting exchange students and developing projects, programs and/or events that teach American youth about cultures around the world.

“These schools recognize the importance of children learning about the world’s cultures and customs,” said Melanie French, Executive Director of AYA. “Additionally, schools that host exchange students play a direct role in promoting the values of the United States. School administrators and teachers recognize that the lessons these exchange students learn while attending American high schools help shape their lasting views of our country.”

Congratulations once again to these 10 inspiring schools! Thank you for all you do to bring our world closer together.
