We love to recognize our field staff every month by asking our students to nominate their Local Coordinator (LC) as our LC of the month. It’s always hard to decide which one deserves it because all of our Local Coordinators do such a wonderful job in mentoring their students. This month however, one LC really stood out, Jennifer from Illinois. She was nominated by her student, Polina from Ukraine.
Jennifer joined AYA two years ago with a passion to work in the greater education community. She also had the experience of meeting international exchange students while she attended high school and it was an experience she would never forget! Now she is able to share this wonderful experience with her own community as a Local Coordinator.
Her student, Polina shared with us why Jennifer deserves to be our LC of the month:
“Jennifer is an amazing coordinator and a wonderful person! Each time we meet we have so much fun together and I get to share with her all the new and exciting experiences I’m having here in Illinois. Recently, she organized a dinner with my host family, an exchange student from Germany and her host family. We had an incredible evening discussing our different cultures and what we liked most about our exchange year. I will never forget this night, full of laughs and great memories! I even made a new friend!”
Congrats Jennifer! Your commitment to your students and host families is commendable. We appreciate your continued support in cultural exchange and we wish you and Polina a wonderful end of the year together!

My exchange students would like to nominate their Local Coordinator. How do they go about it?

Hi Clemmie,
Thanks for your comment! Please encourage your students to submit their thoughts about their Local Coordinator to ayablog@aifs.org. If they’d like to include any photos, that’d be great too. Feel free to email us with any questions!
