Meet Sandra, our esteemed Student of the Month for May 2024! Originally from Spain, this exchange student has embraced new experiences, fostered cross-cultural connections, and left a lasting impact on her host family and community in Oregon. Join us as we delve into Sandra’s journey, celebrate her achievements, and reflect on the profound impact of hosting an exchange student.

Sandra is always willing to help in any situation. She helps with the snack bar at fundraisers for school and community events. Recently, she helped with a bingo fundraiser for senior graduation. She reached out to everyone she knew to help with a fundraiser for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and donated her time by collecting cans and selling donuts.
Sandra received awards and recognition for her ability and sportsmanship on the varsity basketball team at her school. She earned her varsity letter and an all-league award in her conference. Sandra maintains As in her classes and is always willing to participate in projects. Sandra is playing softball and recently moved from JV to varsity in the sport. She also participates in the Chess Club.
Sandra has come a long way this year by improving her English-language skills and getting involved. She truly has become a star in her placement community!
