It’s National Volunteer Week! This is a very important week for Academic Year in America, because the success of our programs depends so much upon volunteers.
To all of our volunteer host families, we send out a hearty and sincere THANK YOU! Your generosity and kindness in support of cultural exchange and international understanding enriches us all. When you volunteer to host a foreign exchange student you opens doors and builds bridges to opportunity in your home, your community and across the globe!
Thanks also to each and every one of our AYA students. Our exchange students often participate in volunteer activities planned by Local Coordinators. These are great outings for students to get out and meet people in their host communities as well as give back for a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Volunteering as cultural ambassadors in host communities around the country is also a popular activity for our kids as part of their high school exchange. AYA students participate in cultural fairs and events at school and through local organizations around the community. Sharing their background and personal experiences is a wonderful way these young men and women enrich our local communities.
Over the next few days, we’ll share a couple of volunteer stories from our AYA family helping communities across the country, so please check back soon to read all about it!
