For Mother’s Day, Hiede from Philippines shares why she loves her host mom.
In honor of Mother’s Day, many Academic Year in America (AYA) exchange students shared what they love most about their host mothers. Unsurprisingly, their host moms all sound like selfless, inspiring, and wonderful women. Of the many touching stories we read, a message from Hiede, an AYA and YES exchange student from Philippines, stood out.
Hiede shares her touching Mother’s Day tribute to her host mom below:
“This is me and my host mom, Kelly (pictured above). I love my host mom so much. She is the loveliest, prettiest, sweetest and best ever host mom for me! She’s my favorite.
I love the fact that she is always there for me. Since the beginning of my exchange year till now, I feel like home. I feel like I always have her back. Every time I have problems, she is always there to help and support me and she never left me behind worrying about it. In my exchange year, I did not feel homesick at all.
I just love coming home every day and seeing my host family asking how was my day. My host mom is one of the best and most important people in my life. I treasure her so much that I can’t even imagine how hard it will be to say goodbye to her. Every time I think about it, it makes me cry. She is such a strong woman. That is another thing I love about her. She is very inspirational, and I love listening to her advice and words of wisdom.
Happy Mother’s Day to my American Mom!”
Happy Mother’s Day to Kelly in Kansas and to all of the mothers around the world! You deserve accolades every day – but especially today.
