Why did you want to do an exchange year in the United States?

“It has been my biggest dream since I was very young. I wanted to explore a new culture and experience new things. I also wanted to learn new things about myself. I was excited to meet new people and build relationships with my host family.”

What do you love about your host family in Wisconsin?

“My host family feels like my real family. I love spending time with them because it is always fun! I enjoy having many host siblings and learning from their experiences in life. I appreciate that they try to make as much as I want possible and support me.”

What have you learned about American culture and how have you shared your culture with Americans?

“I’ve learned that American culture is really friendly. When I was new at my school, so many people came up to me and showed interest in me and my culture. I’ve also learned a lot about school life and the importance of sports, which I love! I cooked German dishes for my host family and friends. My host sister and some of my friends have also started learning German, which is a lot of fun!”
