In all corners of the United States, high school exchange students from around the world are immersing themselves in American life with their host families and local communities — and sharing their cultures, too! Our team recently had the opportunity to travel to Houston, Texas to see the impact firsthand, visiting with students from Thailand, Morocco, Tunisia, Indonesia, Jordan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Germany, Italy, and Spain, and spending time with families and high school partners, as well.

While attending a cluster event set up by Genie, one of our incredible Local Coordinators on the ground in that area, staff and students were introduced to line dances, played card games and baseball, and tried traditional cuisine from students’ various countries. This inspiring group of students even presented our staff with their very own t-shirts, which they designed themselves! All of this culminated in a visit to the Texas roadside staple, Buc-ees.
What a privilege for our staff to visit such a dynamic, passionate community full of cultural exchange! Our team is incredibly grateful to Genie, her cluster of exchange students, and their host parents for coming together to make our visit special. They truly embody our mission of bringing the world together.
