It’s already April and I realize that the time to go home will come really soon. I don’t want to leave the U.S. yet because I became very close to my host family and friends. My year here is truly amazing. I tried to be involved in many activities, trying the things I like to do, and a big part of my year was my theater family.
I joined Lincoln North Star Theatre in the fall when I went to audition and made the cast for the one act play. I was so happy to meet new friends and to perform on stage! In December, we became district champions, and the audience was crying while watching our play, “Across the Plains,” about pioneers and their struggles on the way to a new life.
After the Christmas break we started working on the amazing musical, “Beauty and the Beast,” which was a blast! We performed it four times over three days in the beginning of March. Everyone who came to watch this show was really impressed!
I loved our practices and rehearsals, get-together activities, and our awesome suppers during the tech weeks. I am so proud of all the hard work that the cast, crew, our wonderful directors, and “drama mommas and papas” put into all shows! I am very thankful for the support and love I got from my theater family throughout the year, for adorable, funny and positive moments, and for unforgettable memories that I will carry through my life!
