AYA Local Coordinator Appreciation Week: Meet Jeannette from Texas!

April 25, 2016 AYA Leave a Comment

If there is one word we can use to describe our Local Coordinators, it’s selfless. They are so giving of themselves, their time, energy and love. LCs are people, just like you and me, who have personal lives and extenuating circumstances, but somehow they find a way to put their students at the forefront of their lives. Like we said, selfless.

Jeannette S. from Texas is a perfect example of this selfless and giving nature, as far as her students are concerned. AYA student, Lioba, tells us more:

Jeannette is a sweet lady and loves what she does. I am in a double-placement with Pasinee On-yam and we are like sisters now. When Jeannette met us, first she told us her husband was sick and we had the chance to meet him the second time she visited. I think it is incredible to even host students who didn’t find a home yet under those conditions. She is a gift to those students and everybody who has her as an LC. – Lioba Niesmann, AYA student from Germany

We are so appreciative of all the love and support our Local Coordinators give to our international exchange students and their host families. Thank you to Jeannette and all other AYA LCs for their generosity and friendship.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the AYA family, consider exploring opportunities to become an AYA Local Coordinator.
