#IEW2017: Madina from Kyrgyzstan Shares Why Exchanges are Important | Academic Year in America (AYA) | International Education Week | FLEX Program
Madina makes traditional food from Kyrgyzstan for her host family.

Madina, an AYA and FLEX program exchange student from Kyrgyzstan hosted in New York, shared with us why she feels international education and partaking in an exchange year are important — both for the student and the host family. Read on for her insightful comments:

There so many reasons that international education and exchange are important. Now I’m so glad that I am part of this program. Thanks to this program my dream has become reality. Being in America I have learned about American life, culture.

I read a lot of information about American people and life when I was in my country. But now I experienced myself. Every day I learn something new. I wanna say that if you want to learn about culture other country, I think easier way to learn visit those country or communicate with people from those country. When I communicate with people they can say about real life. What they are doing every day. What kind of holidays they are celebrate. Than we can notice huge different between internet and real life.

This program also encourages us to share with our host families. Our country no longer just a picture in a screen. We are able to present our country in a way that makes us real people. We can also share with other students at school and groups in the community. When I tell people about my country it makes me feel proud to be an ambassador for Kyrgyzstan.
