Host moms are heroes! As we prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day, we at AYA are thinking about our wonderful host moms across the country. Thank you—and best wishes to all of you beautiful people—today and always! We hope you know how much you are appreciated.
AYA host moms mean so much to our students, and we are so thankful for all they do in their communities to support cultural exchange and international education. Welcoming a foreign student into your home and providing love, guidance, comfort and support is a very generous act. Host moms do so much to make our students feel safe and confident on their journey.
Imagine being an AYA student leaving the comfort and familiarity of home to spend time in America. Think how anxious you might be and then the relief and appreciation you would feel when given a warm welcome by your host mom. Like we said, host moms are heroes. Generally speaking, host families are heroic (Dads too), but today our focus is on Mother’s Day so moms get the kudos! We are so lucky to know such special people.
Mother’s Day is a great day to remember those that have had a profound influence on our lives and a perfect opportunity to reach out to say thank you. In addition to AYA host moms, our sincere wishes for a Happy Mother’s Day go out to our Local Coordinators and entire AYA family! In celebration of Mother’s Day, we hope everyone takes the time to show the mother figures in their lives how much they are loved and cherished.
For fun, check out two Happy Mother’s Day videos on our YouTube channel from Fasha and Leonard, two of this year’s AYA students!
