How to Globalize Your High School

August 31, 2018 AYA Leave a Comment

If you are hoping to globalize your high school’s campus, Academic Year in America (AYA) can help.

International exchange is an excellent way to bring your high school to the global stage, recruit top-notch talent, and increase your international student population.

Interested? Here are some key points to know about the program.

About AYA

AYA is part of the AIFS Foundation. The Foundation is a nonprofit charity that helps young people from diverse cultures better understand each other.

Through AYA, students ages 15 – 18 from around the world are invited to spend a semester or year studying at an American high school.

Our Exchange Students

Our exchange students are the best and brightest representatives of their country.

They come from over 50 different countries, have studied English for at least 3 years, and are incredibly mature with a desire to learn.

Types of Schools that Participate

AYA has given over 30,000 students the opportunity to study in America in public, private, parochial and independent day schools.

All types of high schools benefit from the engaging classroom discussions that exchange students create through different cultural perspectives.

Enrollment Support from Local Coordinators

A Local Coordinator works with your school to confirm exchange student placements. Then, your Local Coordinator and school administrators complete an enrollment form and a high school profile to send to exchange students.

Also, your school determines the students’ appropriate grade level. Local Coordinators facilitate orientation sessions once the students arrive.

 Grants Awarded to Schools

Every year, the AIFS Foundation awards Tony Cook Memorial Grants to inspiring American high schools. The grants are awarded to schools that demonstrate a commitment to international exchange. They host exchange students and develop projects, programs and/or events that teach American youth about the global economy.

Submit an application describing your school’s program or project of international dimension to qualify for a Tony Cook Memorial Grant.

Ready to welcome incredible international exchange students to your high school? Learn more about globalizing your campus with AYA.
