Recently, sixteen-year-old Sophie, an AYA student from Germany, reached out to her Local Coordinator for a way to publicly thank her host family, the Frascht family in South Carolina. She wrote this letter of appreciation, suggesting it would be a perfect Christmas present to her beloved host family. It is our pleasure to share the following:
I want to thank my wonderful host family for everything they are doing for me!
From the beginning on, they always treated me like a real family member, and I never felt like a guest. Because of them, I get to see so many cool places like Arizona, Iowa, and Minnesota. We are traveling so much, and I never thought I would have the opportunity to do that.
I enjoy my time here and can’t even put into words how thankful I am. I can’t imagine to leave them one day. I have the cutest host mom that drives me everywhere and cooks vegetarian only for me, a wonderful host dad who takes me to the coolest places, two sisters I can always talk to, no matter if it is about boys or fashion, and an 11-year-old brother who is a real gentleman! Thank you so much, I love you!
On behalf of AYA, thank you to the Frascht family for being a wonderful host family to Sophie! You are clearly providing plenty of love, support and adventure to help her experience the best of America during her exchange year. We are proud to share Sophie’s gift with you during the holiday season.
