AYA high school exchange gives international youth the chance to study abroad in locations across the country. The United States is a large and varied nation with vast contrasts from state to state and region to region. Our students may enjoy a placement in a bustling city or the quiet countryside. They may find themselves on the coast or in the heartland with limitless variables like weather, industry and terrain influencing their experiences.
Wherever students find placement for their time in America, when AYA students visit the U.S. for a semester or full academic year, they appreciate firsthand opportunities to learn about life here. Lena, an AYA student from Germany, submitted the following to share her thoughts on living in a rural setting in Texas and visiting her friend’s horse farm.
My Experience on a Horse Farm
I live in Robinson, Texas, a small town two hours south of Dallas. I have enjoyed living in a country setting. I spent a weekend at my friend’s house on a horse farm. I was able to feed and pet the horses. Visiting my friend’s farm and interacting with the horses was definitely one of my favorite experiences this year.
