AYA Local Coordinator Appreciation Week: Meet Marilu from Texas!

April 20, 2016 AYA Leave a Comment

Up next for LC Appreciation Week is Maria from Texas, just outside of Dallas! “Marilu,” as her students call her, is an important part of their experience in the U.S. We hope you’ll enjoy reading the kind words they have to say about her and how much of an impact she’s made on their time in the United States.

I really love my experience here in another country, with a different culture and new adventures every single day. My LC is a big part of all of it.

She’s an amazing person and I can tell she loves her job. She’s planning activities with all the exchange students (kayaking, bowling, festivals, sport events) at least once a month. Even if we all live a little spread out, she’s trying to visit us as much as possible.

She also took me and a Brazilian girl that she’s hosting to Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi on spring break after we told her that we would be very interested in Graceland. It’s so important to her to make our time unforgettable and show us as much as she can.

I want her to know that she’s doing an amazing job and students are very glad to have her around. She deserves some nice words. She makes my year.” – Julia Sinnwell, AYA Student from Germany

“My name is Lea and I am located in Terrell, TX. I want to talk about my LC, Marilu. She is an amazing LC! I see her pretty often and she tries to arrange at least one activity for the exchange students per month. Luckily I live with her in the same city so whenever I need her, I can count on her. I can talk to her about everything and she gives me good advice. She is such a happy person and it’s just fun to be around her! She loves her job and she does everything with passion. She also makes my experience a lot more interesting.” – Lea Kunz, AYA Student from Germany
