AYA Local Coordinator Appreciation Week: Meet Kristopher from Michigan!

April 28, 2016 AYA Leave a Comment

As Local Coordinator Appreciation Week continues, we quickly have realized how many amazing qualities our Academic Year in America LCs have. While each LC is unique in his or her own way, we’ve found a common denominator amongst the vast majority of them: they’re FUN! Kristopher K. is a great example of this.

Kristopher lives in the Traverse City areas of Michigan. He is an LC with no shortage of energy and enthusiasm for his students, cultural exchange, and life. He is appreciated by so many, and one of his students wanted to share her personal appreciation:

Kristopher is a really, really good LC. He’s more like a friend to me and my host family. For my birthday, he asked a friend if I could ride her horse for a little bit and she let me ride it for over an hour for free! In January, my host mom, host brother, and LC went to Disney World for a week and it was amazing. Kris also made it possible for my host mom and me to go to a Blake Shelton concert with him. We often do movie nights and right now we are working on ‘The Fast and The Furious’ and ‘Survivor’ (the TV show). Kris is the best Local Coordinator an exchange student could ever ask for. – Lisa Baeumler, AYA Student from Germany

Fun and engaging AYA Local Coordinators like Kristopher provide our international exchange students with life-changing experiences that they’ll never forget. They’ll take memories with them that they’ll appreciate for the rest of their lives. Thank you to all of our LCs who build bonds and make memories with our students!

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the AYA family, consider exploring opportunities to become an AYA Local Coordinator.
