Each month at AYA, we like to take some time to recognize some of the truly exceptional exchange students from our program. This month, we’re happy to name Fateen from Bangladesh as the Student of the Month for February 2026!
Read on to learn more about Fateen’s high school exchange journey in Bangladesh.

“Fateen is the role model of exchange students. He approaches everything with an open mind and heart, mature curiosity and a desire for a deeper understanding. From day 1 asking for more volunteer opportunities, as well as how to open a car door. He has approached all these new things like the champion he is. He has had the biggest cultural challenge of any student I have ever met but he does not let it deter him. He has learned so many daily skills we all take for granted. Even before he arrived he had his own social media page teaching others words and simple sentences in English. He has been selected for WYLET. He has made National Honor Society at his school after earning 5 A+ in 7 classes. The others were just an A. He had top volunteer hours at mid-year but his goal is 250 to commerce with the 250th birthday of the USA.
His host family has hosted exchange students before but they call him their son. He is their exchange son and they love him!” — Tressa, Fateen’s Local Coordinator in Oregon
